Rochford District Council Planning Committee Meeting – 29th January 2015

On this page you will find some video footage of the the planning meeting. The public turnout for this was overwhelming and just goes to show how these plans are vigorously opposed by the residents of Rayleigh and Hullbridge.

Rayleigh and District have got a reprieve. The plans to build a 500 home estate off London Road and Rawreth Lane were refused. The Outline Planning Permission was rejected by an overwhelming no vote by Councillors. It was rejected by Leader of the Council Cllr. Terry Cutmore, his Deputy Cllr Keith Hudson and the new holder of the Planning Portfolio holder Cllr. Ian Ward. This was a surprise because this group have been very keen on this development. It might be that an election is due and they are concerned for the majority of the sitting MP Mark Francois. I am sure they are deeply embarrassed by the fact that they have been leading this Council, voting repeatedly to agree the Local Plan, whilst it has spent £2.6 million pounds of tax-payers money on a scheme they are now rejecting. The problems with our roads, drains etc. are not new. Perhaps they can explain their new position in the press.

Sometimes Luke, no Labour candidate is betetr than a poor performance. I recall the Lib Dems making great play out of a paperless Labour candidate getting less than ten votes, yet it took ten signatures to nominate her.
